Positive Thinking Creates Positive relationships

Positive thinking is about more than the thoughts you have. It is a completely different approach to life. It means focusing on the positives rather than the negatives. It means thinking well about yourself rather than putting yourself down, it means thinking well of other, looking at them in a positive way.

At work or play, with friends and family, positive people are happier and more successful then those with a negative attitude. To put it simply, positivity works!

Positive thinking means keeping sufficiently balanced in your awareness of problems, to stay motivated, take action and feel good about what your are doing. Do not ignore difficulties or be overly optimistic. Register problems if you are having a bad day at work or with your partner, but instead of getting locked into bad feelings, take action to solve the difficulties.

Events trigger emotions and there is always accompanying thoughts. "I am scared about the interview". "I bet I will miss the bus again". "She will be angry with me". A thought maybe about what happened in the past, the pressent or a prediction of the future. The main strategy of positive thinking is to adapt these thoughts, amphasizing the positive and defusing the negative.

A positive though creates a positive feeling. Your feelings, thoughts and beliefs can be shifted from negative to positive. A positive belief influences your whole approach to life.

All successful relations are based on mutual respect, always tell others if they impress you, this will make them appreciate you more. If someone critizes you, stay calm. Let them say their piece but only take on board what feels right, offset any hurt by recalling times that you have done well. Ask your critics to coach you in improving. This will not only mean you are willing to learn, it will also get him or her on your side.

Making love work: Once your relationship is under way, be optimistic, especially if past relationships have gone wrong. Being optimistic about your love relationship will create the energy needed to make it a happy one. Enjoy yourselves, have fun together and make each other feel good.

Use scented candles to bring our the romance in your partner or blend some relaxing oils, such as rose, sandlewood, jasmine and ylang ylang. Using a burner pour a few drops of these oils into water and create a loving atmosphere.

Holistic Massage Therapy

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, praised the benefits of massage in the 5th century. He told his students that rubbing was an excellent way for the binding and loosening of joints. The Greeks and Romans enjoyed massage especially after sporting events or to ease themselves after battle. The Roman physician, Galen, wrote 16 manuels on the subject of massage. Per Henrik Ling, (1776 -1839) was a Swede who devised a system of strokes using his knowledge of anatomy and physiology which many spas, leisure and sport centers offer to this day. It is known as Swedish massage, a treatment to alleviate mascular aches and pains.

Massage, or bodywork, is perceived as a holistic therapy and is enjoyed by many people to achieve psychological and physical relaxation. Soft tissue massage makes use of a variety of techniques to stroke and manipulate the skin and the superficial muscles and tissues in order to alleviate pain and tension. The strokes help to boost the circulatory system working directly with the anatomy and physiology of the body to restore vital energy and a state of relaxation.

Deep tissue massage manipulates the fascia by the action of friction and stretching. This releases blockages to the flow of energy and vitality throughout the whole body. It is usually based over at least 10 sessions, allowing the whole structure of the body to be re-aligned and balanced. During the process chronic tensions break down, breathing becomes deeper and the body regains vitality. Emotions that have become repressed within the body may be released bringing about a feeling of calm and tranquility.

Deep tissue therapists may use the thumbs, fingers, knuckles and forearms to stretch and manipulate the fascia. Pressure is applied slowly, The tissue is stretched and moved in a specific direction, depending on its location in the body.

Holistic massage uses the same strokes as Swedish massage, using a softer and slower pace, with emphasis on relaxing the client both physically and emotionally. Massage provides a safe and neutral environment in which to receive loving touch stimulation for emotional health and self esteem. Massage is such a beneficial therapy because it helps the person receiving it feel safe and relaxed.

A healthy circulatory system is essential to the well-being of both body and mind. Massage is an excellent way of boosting both blood and lymph circulation in order to promote health. The lymphatic system carries waste products to the lymph nodes, this acts as a filter to prevent harmful substances from entering the bloodstream and is an important part of the body's immune system.

There a few experiences more luxurious and relaxing than to recieve a whole body massage, the power of touch evokes changes in mind, body and spirit that nourishes and benefits the whole person.

Relax With Reflexology

Reflexology dates back to ancient times. The Chinese, Indians, Egyptians and American Indians used pressure therapy on the feet to maintain and restore good health. In Saqqara, Egypt, a wall painting originating from 2330 BC clearly shows foot reflexology being given as a treatment.

Reflexology is based on the principle that energy flows through the body along meridans, specific paths. A healthy person's energy moves freely along these channels, however, if the energy is blocked through tension, inbalance, sluggishness or congestion within the system, the corresponding organs and internal structures that lie in the energy path have the potential to succumb to disease.

Refeloxologists believe that an individual's health can be restored when pressure is applied to the various points on the body, this helps to unblock the energy channel, which revitializes the effect of the organs and glands.

The technique involves pressing the reflex points on the sole, sides, and tops of each foot in turn for up to three seconds, using the tops of the thumbs or fingers. The foot must be securely held, the leverage applied by the fingers and thumbs opposing the movement.

The client should sit comfortably and relaxed with the feet facing the therapist. Passive movements to loosen and warm the foot and ankle provide an excellent start to the session. A qualified  therapist will be able to detect a disorder within a corresponding body part, because of the tenderness of the point or points of the foot. If the spot is particularly sore the reflexologist may return to that specific are several times but care is taken not to overwork it. Several sessions may be needed for a complete treatment.

When reflexology is applied skilfully it can relax and invigorate the entire physiology of the body, stimulating blood circulation and nervous system and boosting the elimination of toxins as well as clearing congestion of the organs. Reflexology is fimrly established as a complementary healing therapy.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a fairly modern Japanese body therapy that derives its principles from ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine.

Health is restored when a balance is reached between yin and yang the energetic forces between mind, body and spirit.

Yin and yang are the opposite, yet complementary energies of existence, yin is feminine and passive, yang is masculine and active. Shitasu helps to bring harmony between the yin and yang energies of the body and its internal organs.

There are fourteen energy meridians, and pressure is applied to key points along these pathways where the energy is blocked or over-stimulated. The word shiatsu means finger pressure, although the practitioner can use hands, elbows, knees and feet to apply the pressure.

Shiatsu can also incorporate Western osteopathy to stretch and manipulate the joints and ease tension, thereby helping to clear blockages in the energy pathways. The aim of shiatsu is to restore a balance in the flow of ki (chi) as it inerconnects the vital organs.

The practitioner takes a general assessment of the clients state of health through observing the skin colour and muscle tone and taking a case history. He/she then leans a steady weight into the key points of the relevant meridian for up to 10 seconds before slowly releasing the pressure. The session, which lasts between 45-60 minutes is always carried out on the floor, with the client fully dressed in comfortable clothing, lying on the mattress.

The bladder meridian is the largest in the body and runs down each side of the spine to the sacrum, the triangular bond forming the back of the pelvis. Thumb pressure applied on the sacral points can relieve sciatica and lower back pain.

Pressure on the gall bladder points can release congestion in the pelvoc area, this is particulary effective in relieving genito-urinary conditions in women as well as easing lower back pain.

The qualified Shiatsu therapist knows that one of the essential components of the treatment is to focas on his own breathing and posture and all the movements should emanate from the hara, the point just below the naval, which is the seat of this vital energy. This itself brings a calm and meditive mind which imparts itself through contact of touch as a healing force.

Shiatsu is a holistic therapy which works on the body, mind and spirit. It can bring tranquility to the mind and can alleviate many physical problems, such as back pain, muscular tension, headaches and digestive problems. Shiatsy seeks to help the whole patient rather than the symptoms that the illness or condition presents.

Reiki Healing, Feel The Energy

REIKI is one of the most ancient healing methods known to man. It originated in Tibet and was reintroduced in the nineteenth century by the Japanese monk Dr. Mikao Usui.

Reiki is mentioned in 2500-year-old writings in Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language. The Usai system is named after Dr. Usai and it has been passed down to Reiki masters since that time and is now practiced worldwide.

We humans have Universal Life Energy all around us and within us. This life force energy is given to us at birth and we use it up in the business of ordinary daily living. We have to create a daily supply of new energy when we are unable to for a prolonged period, we may become physically ill. If our supply of this life force is very low and depleted, we suffer from all sorts of physical, emotional and mental disorders.

Reiki is a natural and simple healing method, which allows a person to absorb more life force energy. The system vitalizes your life force by balancing the energies in the body. This natural energy flows in a powerful and concentrated form through the hands of the Reiki healer. The Reiki healer lays hands on the various chakras, energy channels. There are seven main energy channels, and balancing these centers will bring the body back into harmony. Once balance is restored the body can start to heal from within.

Stress is generally thought to be the reaction to the demands of daily life. If you cannot cope with these demands you may react with physical, emotional and mental symptoms. If you suffer stress over a long period of time, the body loses vitality, resilience and you become susceptible to illnesses. The stress mounts up this accumulation leads to continuing disturbances in the physical-spiritual area.

Reiki helps you to experience your anger, fears or feelings of guilt and helps you 'let go' of the negativity bringing about harmony and possitive emotions.

The Reiki treatment positions correspond with the body's endocrine glandular system and the seven main chakras. The endocrine system regulates hormone balance and metabolism. Our seven main chakras are seated in the human etheric body. They are connected to fine energy channels running along the spine. Without them the physical body could not exist. These energy centers collect subtle energy, transform it, and supply it to the body. Each chakra is linked to a certain organ or region in the body and has influence on its functions.

Reiki can help if you are suffering from depression, stress, emotional problems, and insomnia, pain and to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy. It can also help to relax women undergoing IVF treatment making that treatment more successful.

Swine Flu Protection And Treatment

INFLUENZA is the most common cause of fever, although the term is often used to include various unidentified viral infections.

All the symptoms are characterized by a raised temperature, aching limbs, sore throat, runny nose, cough, headaches and fatigue.

Flu is caused by a virus, and often occurs in epidemics during the winter. New strains of the virus seem to occur each year, despite the availability of flu vaccines.

A person infected with either seasonal flu or H1N1 may be able to infect others from one day before getting ill to seven days after.

There has been a rush to make a vaccine, questioning some safety precautions, to vaccinate the population before the winter season. Unlike regular seasonal flu, H1N1 vaccines have thimersol and squalene, to make them more effective. Thimersol and squalene have been linked to autism in sensitive individuals.

CAN VITAMIN D HELP?

There have been many studies over the years with vitamin D as a prevention to catching both colds and flu. Studies have shown that those with higher vitamin D blood levels are less likely to contract the typical avian influenza  most of us are familiar with. This is why most people get sick with flu in the winter and spring, when the sunlight and blood vitamin levels are at their lowest. I suspect similiar results with the swine flu.

Studies show that vitamin D stimulate the immune system and desease fighting cells, called macrophages and T cells. We know that macrophages and T cells have vitamin D receptors on them, enhancing their functions, Macrophages and T cells create proteins that have antiviral properties.

In 2006, Dr. John Cannell an expert in vitamin D and a psychiatrist at Atascadero State Hospital in California, along with colleagues, published a paper showing evidence that lower vitamin D blood levels during the winter months accounted for the increased transmissibility of the flu virus among children and adults. This and many other studies about vitamin D started much interest.

Evidence from clinical trials shows, with a wide margin of confidence, that 2000 units of vitamin D a day is the best protection against this potential epidemic and patients with severe immune problems can take 5000 units with safety under doctors supervision.

A person diagnosed with flu should drink plenty of liquids, esspecially peppermint or elderflower teas, and sliced ginger or honey and lemon in hot water, once the fever has subsided, eat foods which are easy to digest such as soups, rice or steamed vegetables. Vitamin D and garlic will aid recovery. Stay in bed and keep warm and contact with other people should be kept to a minimum.

Use tea tree oil, eucalyptus and rosemary oils in vaporizers especially at the onset of the illness.

Aromatherapy, The Scented Touch

One can feel a tremendous feeling of relaxation and well-being with essential oils and massage. Plants have their own life forces, each species has it's own unique life force and it is the essential oils from these plants that have amazing healing properties.

There is evidence that extraction of aromatic substances were distilled in Mesopotamia over five thousand years ago. In ancient Egypt, China and other civilisations plants were being used to make exotic perfumes and medicines.. In the books of wisdom in India, the Vedas which dates back four thousand years, are instructions for the use of herbs, aromatic oils and plants for medicinal purposes. In the Bible dating back over 4000 years plants and oils were used for illness and religious purposes. Now in the twenty-first century we are re-discovering how valuable aromatherapy is.

A Frenchman, Rene Gatefosse, coined the phrase aromatherapy. He was working in his laboratory making a perfume when he badly burnt his hand, he quickly plunged it into the nearest bowl of liquid which just happened to be essential oil of lavender. His hand healed extremely quickly and even though the burns had been severe, there was  very little scarring. Being a chemist, Gatefosse was so impressed by the antiseptic and healing qualities of this oil, he started researching into the healing properties of other essential oils.

Another Frenchman, Dr Jean Valet, added to this research working as a surgeon during the Second World War. Since the war aromatherapy has developed in many different ways in different countries around the globe.

There are about three hundred different pure essential oils, most of them can be purchased from health stores. Many common ailments can be effectively treated with a blend of three to five dfferent oils. Essential oils are very volatile, some can be toxic and dangerous if not use properly. They should come in dark bottles in stored in a cool dark place.

Essential oils are able to influence all aspects of the body's functions, from tissues to organs, to body fluids and cells as well as the emotional state and spiritual aspects of the person. Aromatherapy has been found to be useful in the care of patients suffering long-term illnesses such as cancer or AIDS.

Essential oils are used to treat acne, allergies, boils, burns, chilblains, earache, inflammations, insect bites and toothache as well as arthritis, muscular pain, rheumatism and sprains. Colic, indigestion and nausea can also respond to essential oils. Painful periods, menopause, premenstrual syndrome and cystyitis, thrush, fever, insomnia, nervous tension, colds and flu also depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, breathing problems and palpitations can be treated with aromatherapy.

Oils can be massaged to soothe painful arthritis and inhaled for someone suffering from cold symptoms, a cough, or a chest infection. A facial steam is also an effective and pleasantly relaxing aid to skin care. A warm relaxing footbath is ideal for easing aching feet.

Massage provides a safe and neutral situation in which to receive loving touch and stimulation of the skin senses. This is so important for emotional health. The power of a loving touch, and its ability to heal, to comfort, share empathy is very neccessary in an intimate relationship especially in this very demanding world we live in.

Nutritional Therapy

Naturopathy is the science and philosophy using the healing power of nature in a possitive and productive way, not only to cure illness but to prevent in occuring in the first place.

Nutritional Therapy and naturopathy, are indeed one and the same, began in the late nineteenth century in those dark ages of medicine treatments which still relied on dangerous metals such as mercury and arsenic to treat illness.

Vincent Priestesnitz, Sebastian Kneipp and J.H Kellog, of cornflake fame were leaders in the naturopathy movement. At this time the term naturopathy was applied to a system of healing based on fasting, dietary manipulation and hydrotherapy. Today there are no set restrictions as naturopathy encompasses all practices which use the healing laws of nature rather than submit the body to dangerous chemicals.

Hippocrates became famous for his beliefs in nature's power to heal the body's internal self healing mechanism, without resorting to alien substances. Nutritional therapy supports the self healing process and avoids the use of chemical medicines wherever possible, although in some cases conventional medicine still saves many lives today.

Natritional Therapy itself uses dietary methods, vitamins, minerals, herbal treatments, homeopathy, meditation, acupuncture and acupressure, hydrotherapy and tissue manipulation, massage, in its practice.

There is no doubt that your state of nutrition determines how healthy or unhealthy you are. Undernutrition can leave you tired and fatigued, weak and mentally apathetic.

A healthy immune system can destroy an isolated cancer cell, if the immune system is weakened by a nutrutional deficiency the cancer agent can mutate and develop into full blown cancer, although this may sound very alarming, it is within a power to reduce the incidence of happening in the first place.
