Naturopathy is the science and philosophy using the healing power of nature in a possitive and productive way, not only to cure illness but to prevent in occuring in the first place.
Nutritional Therapy and naturopathy, are indeed one and the same, began in the late nineteenth century in those dark ages of medicine treatments which still relied on dangerous metals such as mercury and arsenic to treat illness.
Vincent Priestesnitz, Sebastian Kneipp and J.H Kellog, of cornflake fame were leaders in the naturopathy movement. At this time the term naturopathy was applied to a system of healing based on fasting, dietary manipulation and hydrotherapy. Today there are no set restrictions as naturopathy encompasses all practices which use the healing laws of nature rather than submit the body to dangerous chemicals.
Hippocrates became famous for his beliefs in nature's power to heal the body's internal self healing mechanism, without resorting to alien substances. Nutritional therapy supports the self healing process and avoids the use of chemical medicines wherever possible, although in some cases conventional medicine still saves many lives today.
Natritional Therapy itself uses dietary methods, vitamins, minerals, herbal treatments, homeopathy, meditation, acupuncture and acupressure, hydrotherapy and tissue manipulation, massage, in its practice.
There is no doubt that your state of nutrition determines how healthy or unhealthy you are. Undernutrition can leave you tired and fatigued, weak and mentally apathetic.
A healthy immune system can destroy an isolated cancer cell, if the immune system is weakened by a nutrutional deficiency the cancer agent can mutate and develop into full blown cancer, although this may sound very alarming, it is within a power to reduce the incidence of happening in the first place.
